Joshua Creek Heritage Art Centre Plein-Air Event (Sat, May 11th, 2024) started my outdoor painting season. This year, I will focus on landscapes in the Elizabeth Gardens area of Burlington to feature 3 to 4 large paintings at the Artwalk held on August 24th. I also hope to exhibit some of these works at future shows in June and Oct-Nov.
The Joshua Creek Event was a nice way to stress-test my outdoor setup. It’s been twenty years since I’ve done any significant plein-air painting. As with anything, your practice changes with experience. Plus, you sometimes forget things, so having the opportunity to field-test your setup is a good thing.
Now that I have tried things out, I will start my field trips with sketching sessions to find good locations for full-size painting efforts.
