The London Free Press had an article on Tuesday (Jan 3/12) about why the EMD lockout was drawing so much international attention. The article stated that the lockout had been reported in the New York Times, the Wall Street Journal, the Chicago Tribune and the Australian Herald.
The article suggested that the sudden and arbitrary nature of the employer’s demand for the workers to accept a 50% cut in wages and benefits and the employer’s take it or leave it attitude has caught the public’s imagination.
According to a University of Toronto professor, everyone can understand and empathize with these workers. Everyone can place themselves in the workers shoes and the question what would I do?
It is a good article and people should read it.
