Celebrate Our Heritage and Photograph Endangered Buildings

Celebrate Heritage Week (Feb 18-24th) by photographing a building that deserves heritage protection.

The goal of Heritage Week is to celebrate our past.  This seems like the perfect opportunity to promote greater awareness of Hamilton’s many important buildings that deserve heritage protection.

Joey Coleman, local blogger and journalist, has posted a map that shows the locations of all the buildings on his website – joeycoleman.ca.  The map is listed on his May 18, 2011 blog post. By encouraging people to go out and photograph these potential  heritage buildings, not only will we create a visual record but we will create a greater awareness of what we might lose.

Photographs can be posted to CBC Hamilton’s “Best Photos in Hamilton.”

Launched last year by Ontario Heritage Trust, an agency of the Ontario Government, Heritage Week starts on the third Monday of February.  This year Heritage Week is from February 18th to 24th, 2013.
