Please come out and support Sam Merulla’s motion to have the City of Hamilton boycott caterpillar product and services on Feb 22, 2012. I still need to confirm the time but meeting will likely start at 7 pm.
I feel very strongly about the Caterpillar situation given the recent lockouts at Nanticoke and Hamilton with USW members. I walked the picket line with them and witness an employer treat them as cost items on a spreadsheet. We need to learn from those experiences and build an effective strategy against these global corporations. If we allow this lockout and now the closing of the EMD plant as a problem that only affects CAW members in London (Ontario) then we all lose. So, please come out next week and support Sam’s motion before City Council.
